Strawberry Picking

Text Box: Our strawberry season starts mid October and goes to April/May. A day in a strawberry pickers life: We start at 6:00am, the team leaves to the strawberry field. The supervisor tells us where and what to pick and makes sure we maintain very good quality in our trays, keep our rows clean and don’t forget a tray. Between 9:30 and 10:00 we have a short break (20min) before we go for our 2nd run until lunch time. After lunch break (30min) everybody comes in the shed and we get prepared for packing until around 16:30, with a small break in between. The quality of packing has to be superior, because that’s what our customers buy. The start time in the morning can vary, usually the more work we have and the hotter the summer gets, the earlier we start. The strawberry picking and packing is paid on a contract system, the rate varies depending on fruit volume and quality throughout the season. Other jobs in the shed are paid per hour. We would like you to commit yourself to at least 4 weeks, we will train you, but it takes time to get over the first back pains, to develop the necessary skills and build up speed. The longer you stay the better for you and us.
